Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account or using glimpse, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app.

How we handle your data is set out separately in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

What glimpse is not

glimpse is not therapy. It is not counselling, not treatment, and not a substitute for professional help. Nothing in the app is clinical advice, and nobody reading what you release is acting as your therapist.

glimpse is not a crisis service. Nobody is monitoring releases for emergencies. If you are in immediate danger, or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line in your country. Do not rely on glimpse to reach anyone in time.

glimpse is not a medical app. Breathe is a wellbeing tool, not a treatment for any condition.

Breathing and your safety

Breathing exercises affect your body. Stop immediately if you feel dizzy, faint, short of breath, or unwell, and do not continue simply because a session is still running.

Never do a breathing exercise while driving, operating machinery, in water, or anywhere that becoming light-headed would put you in danger.

Techniques that involve holding your breath carry additional risk. They are not recommended if you are pregnant, or if you have epilepsy, a heart condition, or high or low blood pressure. If you have any medical condition, or you are unsure, speak to a doctor before using them.

If in doubt, use the techniques with a steady rhythm rather than any that ask you to hold your breath.

Your account

Creating an account requires an email address, and that is the only personal data we ask for. You are responsible for keeping access to that email secure, because it is how you get back into your account.

The identity shown beside what you release is generated by the system. You do not choose it, and it changes over time.

What you release

What you write, photograph, or record remains yours. You are responsible for it, including making sure you have the right to share anything you include, such as a photograph of someone else.

When you release something to everyone, you allow us to show it anonymously to other people using glimpse. That is the whole function of the app, and it is limited to that: we do not use what you release for advertising, and we do not publish it outside glimpse.

You can delete anything you have released, at any time. It is removed from other people's feeds as well as your own, and we do not keep a copy.

What is not allowed

glimpse is a place to put down what you are carrying. A few things fall outside that, and releasing them may cost you access to the app:

  • Anything unlawful, or anything that encourages others to break the law.
  • Content that identifies, targets, or exposes another person, including private information or photographs shared without their consent.
  • Content that encourages anyone to harm themselves or someone else.
  • Sexual content involving children, in any form. This is reported to the authorities.
  • Advertising, recruitment, spam, or anything released to promote something rather than to release something.
  • Attempts to identify other people using glimpse, or to break the anonymity the app is built on.

Responses from other people

Other people can send one of three signals of presence in response to a release, and nothing else. There are no comments and no direct messages, so nobody can write to you or contact you privately.

Nobody is obliged to respond, and receiving no response does not mean nobody read it. The app is built so that presence is the only thing on offer.

Premium

The core of glimpse is free, and four breathing techniques are free permanently with no limit on how often you use them. glimpse Premium adds further techniques and multi-day programs.

Ending your use

You can stop using glimpse whenever you like, delete what you have released, and close your account.

Disclaimers and liability

glimpse is provided as it is. We work to keep the service available and working, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted or never contain a fault.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect, rather than quietly updating this page.

glimpse isn't a crisis service.
